Prior to Saturday's training session, AC Benahavís Walking Football Club held its Annual General Meeting. President Chris Warren welcomed the new committee members, thanked those stepping down for their hard work and dedication, and highlighted the excellent position the club is in as we look forward to another exciting year.
A special moment followed when Popeye presented Amanda with a further €250, raised through his World Cup sweepstake, to support her family during their incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and best wishes remain firmly with Amanda and her family.
Then it was onto the pitch, where the Blues and Whites served up another competitive encounter. Despite the midday heat, both teams battled for almost 90 minutes, showing tremendous commitment and fitness.
Worthers earned the unofficial Man of the Match award with an outstanding defensive display and some superb distribution from the back. That said, Mark Morris was in inspired form for the Whites, finishing clinically scoring several excellent goals.
After all that hard work, the post-match beers at Bar O'Hana were thoroughly deserved.
